Toucan 12” x 16” Fiber Art 2017

This is a challenge piece.  Participants drew three colored markers from a hat. We were to find fabric that matched the marker color and make a piece using only those three colors, plus black or white.  We could embellish the piece any way we wanted.

When I saw the colors I picked, I immediately thought of a Toucan bird.  I used colored thread and pigments to bring out the details of my feathered friend.

Construction: Raw-edge applique using commercial cotton fabric; polyester batting; cotton/polyester thread; fabric inks and pigments (using my technique Pigment Patchwork).
