Highlights from My Solo Ceramic Show: “Enchanted” at Trox Gallery (Part 2 of 2)

There’s something magical about taking an idea and turning it into something you can hold in your hands. Whether I’m stitching fabric, painting, or shaping clay, I’m chasing that spark of creation.

This August, I’m sharing that spark in my solo ceramic show at Trox Gallery & Gifts in Emporia, Kansas. The collection is inspired by nature’s endless variety — reimagined with a whimsical twist. Each creature has its own personality, a mix of humor and heart.

Every piece in the show is hand-built. I start with slump molds for bowls and add sculptural details with clay or clay slip. Glazes bring the final surprise, revealing their true colors only after firing.

Some pieces came from pure imagination, others from friends’ responses to the question: “What should I make next?” No matter the source, each piece was made to delight.
