This fiber piece was created in response to a Cherrywood Fabric Challenge. We were to create a 20” x 20” masterpiece inspired by the theme “Abyss”, using only the hand-dyed fabrics provided in a kit bundle.

Artist Statement:
Down in the abyss, it’s eat or be eaten—again and again. I created this raw-edge appliqué art quilt to stack the food chain like nesting dolls with teeth. Using a limited fabric set, I stitched each layer to add dimension and drama. Bold colors, sharp teeth, and a glow-in-the-dark vibe bring some bite-sized humor to this deep sea scene.

Even in the darkest depths, there’s always something with a bigger mouth.

Construction: cotton fabrics; polyester batting; cotton/polyester threads.
