This piece is a result of taking a class to learn some new techniques. These are composed of hand-painted pieces of silk and other fabrics, along with fibers and threads. The pieces are laid on a background, giving the overall effect of translucency. The 3 pieces are hung together on a rod.
While teaching and visiting in the Ukraine (Kiev), I was given some of this eco-dyed fabric. After I started playing with it using pigments, Maria got very excited so I told her I would finish it and give it to her and her quilt shop in Ukraine
The Westcliffe Contemporary Quilters and Fiber Artists (WCQFA) guild, Westcliffe, Colorado, issued a challenge to its members: To create a 12” x 12” art quilt illustrating our own interpretation of a topic utilizing many aspects of quilting, edging and surface design.
