(Notable Women Quilt Initiative celebrating women who have made a difference throughout history. Sponsored by the Rogue Art Quilters of Ashland, Oregon.)
The Rogue Art Quilters of Ashland, Oregon sponsored the Notable Women Quilt Initiative, celebrating women who have made a difference throughout history. I chose Mother Teresa as my topic. The group encouraged the use of words in the resulting quilt.
Mother Theresa (1910-1997) made a difference to so many people and her memory continues to serve as an inspiration. She has been noted for her charity, unselfishness and courage, as well as her capacity for hard work.
She devoted her life to the care of the poor, sick and disadvantaged, regardless of their religion. A photograph of Mother Teresa holding a baby and laughing as well as her quote,
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has yet to come. We have only today. Let us begin.”
Inspired me in the creation of this art quilt. Construction: Raw-edge appliqué using commercial fabric, polyester batting, cotton and monofilament threads, fabric paint and ink, colored pencils.
