Description
ORIGINAL IS SOLD
The Westcliffe Contemporary Quilters and Fiber Artists (WCQFA) guild, Westcliffe, Colorado, issued a challenge to its members: To create a 12” x 12” art quilt illustrating our own interpretation of a topic utilizing many aspects of quilting, edging and surface design. The resulting quilts were shown at several galleries and quilt shows.
Topic Word: Movement.
This quilt is published in the Front Range Contemporary Quilter (FRCQ) Portfolio 2014 – Best of 2013.
The lazy movement of dandelion seeds under their silken parachutes, blown by children and the breezes of summer – that is what came to mind for this topic. I also liked the movement in the placement of the illustrations, fabric and stitching: moving your eye around the piece.
Construction: Reused upholstery fabric, cottons, computer printed fabric, sheers, applique, raw-edge applique, cotton and polyester thread, dimensional paint, fiber paint/inks.
