Okay, okay, so technically today (June 2) in not my birthday! But yesterday was! And, because I am the boss of me, I decided to send out a special newsletter to you to celebrate! And, I have a little gift for you! Yup! Read on! Oh, and because this is not an official newsletter (and my website is still not quite ready for my blog) my next newsletter should take you to my new Blog area. Here is the deal! I want to talk about the potentially scary thought of sharing or showing your work. When are we ready to take that plunge? Well, there is no time like the present! It is one thing to create for ourselves or as gifts for others. We may even show it to our family or friends. We may share it with our Group or Guild. To imagine actually getting up the courage to submit a piece to a show or exhibit can be a potentially daunting task!

I've been staying very busy teaching, coordinating updates to my website, planning and developing new educational content. However, I do manage to squeeze in creative time specific to my fiber art! I don't know about you, but I find Calls for Entry, Challenges and due dates help motivate me. I have always enjoyed Cherrywood Fabrics wonderful hand-dyed fabrics. Every year they have a Challenge. This year it is called "Graffiti". So I took the plunge!

I am sending this newsletter out a little early because I am about to start a new 8-wk Get Pigment Confident (GPC) Challenge and want to give everyone a chance to attend. I would love to have you!

Earlier this year in my February newsletter, with the Subject Line of "Can I Fix It? What is Wicking?", I talked about my Mother Teresa project and some pigment wicking issues. (Well okay, the newsletter was mistakenly dated January 24th but it was sent out in the early am of Feb 3rd. I am still learning how to create these newsletters!! ;-) I will try to do better!)

This is a continuation of my discussion in my January 24, 2022 newsletter. As I mentioned then, there is not a simple, straightforward answer to the question of "Is coloring on Fabric like coloring on Paper".

This project is our first collaborative effort. It has been interesting working together on this piece. This is very different than most of us are used to. Our goal is to have the piece complete by this summer. Each of us has taken a portion of the piece to create. Then the pieces will come together to create the art quilt.

Today I want to discuss the importance of nurturing your own creative journey and suggestions on how to do that.
