Description
This quilt was originally created as an entry in Ricky Tims Miracle Fabric Challenge 2014, and it won the contest. After the contest I added 3-dimensional rosemary leaves and modified a few features to make the quilt even more interesting.
Ricky Tims asked us to create an original quilt design no smaller than 24” on each side using his hand dyed Caveman Pastel fabric (the Miracle fabric) as the predominantly featured light fabric. I was inspired by a photograph of my friend’s daughter holding a bunch of fresh-cut rosemary herbs at their organic farm in Canon City, Colorado. The miracle fabric provides a wonderful background for this young girl. I also used Ricky’s hand dyed fabrics for her dress and the rosemary.
Construction: Turned-applique and raw-edge applique using hand dyed and commercial cotton fabric, organza, cotton batting, cotton, polyester and monofilament threads, fabric inks, colored pencils, and pastels.
