Trip Around the Rockies – 110′ x 92″- 2006 – Rhonda’s 1st Quilt

Description

This was a quilt kit purchased in 2001.  The kit had hand-dyed fabrics and instructions for a pattern called Trip Around the World.  I loved the colors and wanted to create a quilt for our bed.  My neighbor at that time, Jan Hinshaw, volunteered to help steer me in the right direction.  I used a basic sewing machine I had.  We enlarged the quilt by adding borders and I decided I wanted to add the appliqued Columbines that I designed.  I wanted to do everything on this quilt so it was not finished until 2006 after I learned how to quilt it myself.  I called it “Trip Around the Rockies”.
